Education and parenting play an important role in facilitating women empowerment. The frequently used idea of women empowerment may be considered a process of promoting equal access to resources, opportunities and decision-making power for women in order to ensure that they advance in their lives without hindrance, said EBS India Inc founder Chavi Hemanth. She said, “Women’s empowerment can take many forms like promoting women’s education and training, increasing their economic and political participation and addressing issues like violence against women and discrimination. It is important to note that women’s empowerment is not about giving women power over men but rather about creating a more equitable society where both women and men have equal opportunities to succeed and thrive,” she states.

“I firmly believe if you educate a woman you educate an entire family. I also believe that parenting is an important aspect of empowering women as it is through parenting that children learn about gender roles, expectations and behaviour. When parents teach gender equality, respect and fairness they contribute to the empowerment of both their daughters and sons. We as society have to stop telling young girls that they are just givers, meant to provide domestic care to the society. By encouraging gender-neutral attitudes, promoting education, challenging gender norms, encouraging independence and providing positive reinforcement, parents can contribute to the empowerment of their children and future generations to come,” she adds.

“When women have access to education, healthcare and economic opportunities, they are more likely to participate in the workforce, start their own businesses and contribute to the economy. There are myriad ways to promote women’s empowerment, including complete access to education, healthcare and economic opportunities, supporting women’s participation in political and public life and challenging societal norms and stereotypes that are holding women back. It requires a collective effort from individuals, organisations and governments to create a more gender-equal world,” said Hemanth.
