CM Dhami exhorts women to celebrate Jan 22 as Deepotsava

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that complete development of the country and the society is impossible without the contribution of women. He was addressing the ‘Narishakti Vandan Mahotsav’ in Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar on Wednesday. He said that one cannot forget the role played by the women in the statehood movement of Uttarakhand. The CM added that the women also actively participated in the Ram Mandir movement of Ayodhya. He exhorted the women to celebrate the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22 by lighting Diyas in their homes. Dhami also took out a massive roadshow in Rudrapur on the day.

 He said that revolutionary changes have occurred in the field of women empowerment in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has adopted the principle of ‘security along with facilities’ to women. He said that facilities such as homes, toilets, cooking gas, water and electricity are being provided to women and the government is working dedicatedly to provide education, health, nutrition, vaccines and other requirements for women.

Dhami said that there are 70 lakh self help groups in the country and more than eight crore women are associated with them. In the last six- seven years, a threefold increase in the number of women self help groups has been reported. He said that unprecedented work in the field of women self help groups has taken place in Uttarakhand. The CM said that the State government is committed to make women empowered and self-reliant and for this 30 per cent reservation to women of Uttarakhand was given in the government jobs. He added that the schemes such as Mukhyamantri Narishasktikaran Yojana, Mukhyamantri Mahalaxmi Yojana, Lakhpati didi Yojana, Mukhyamantri Swarojgar Yojana, Nanda Gaura Matrivandana Yojana and Mahila Poshan Yojana have been started for empowering women in Uttarakhand. Dhami said that his government has enacted a stringent law to prevent copying in examinations and brought an anti conversion law. The government has taken action against land jihad and corrupt officers.

The union minister of State Ajay Bhatt, Minister Ganesh Joshi and MLA Shiv Arora also addressed the programme.
