Doon temperature to rise close to 40°C today

Temperatures have continued to rise in the plains and even the mountainous regions of the State. The maximum temperature in provisional State capital Dehradun is rising daily and is likely to be just a notch below 40 degrees Celsius on Thursday. However, isolated places in the mountains of three districts may experience some relief today. The State meteorological centre has forecast the possibility of very light to light rainfall/thunderstorm occurring at isolated places in higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts towards afternoon/evening on Thursday. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State today.

Dehradun is forecast to experience mainly clear skies today with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 39 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at various places on Wednesday were 38.7 degrees Celsius and 21.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 38.1 degrees Celsius and 23.8 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 27.4 degrees Celsius and 14.7 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 28.2 degrees Celsius and 17.2 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
