Swami Ram Tirtha remembered on 116th death anniversary

A Vedant Sammelan was organised at the Garhwal University Swami Ram Tirtha campus at Badshahithaul on the 116th death anniversary of Swami Ramteerth on Monday. The campus director AA Baudai said that Swami Ram Tirtha had publicised Vedant in America, Egypt, Japan and other nations. He had given up his body in the Ganga in old Tehri on October 17, 1906. He recalled that according to the Swami, religion and philosophy should be learnt like physical science.

The dean of student welfare MS Negi, mathematics department head KS Rawat and NSS senior programme officer LR Dangwal also expressed their views on Swami Ram Tirtha on the occasion.  They said that his aim was to take India out of darkness and take it in a new direction. Stating that the nation needs Vedant, unity, organisation, patriotism and science, they exhorted the students to take inspiration from the life of Swami Ram Tirtha. The students also staged a drama on the occasion.
