Deploy sufficient police force on Yatra routes for smooth traffic: ADG

The additional director general of police (crime, law and order) V Murugesan ordered senior/superintendents of police of all districts to deploy sufficient police force at the identified pressure points to ensure smooth traffic system on Char Dham routes and upcoming Hemkund Sahib Yatra. He said that respective SSPs and SPs must ensure that the police personnel do not misbehave and cause unnecessary inconvenience to devotees during the checking. It must be ensured that no one’s religious sentiments are hurt during any proceedings. The police in every district must emphasise on immediate and peaceful disposal of pilgrims’ issue during their pilgrimage, added Murugesan. He ordered the district in-charges to conduct timely meetings with the representatives of all Gurudwaras to appeal to them to give proper directions to the devotees ahead of the upcoming Hemkund Sahib Yatra. He said that it is prohibited to carry lathis and modified silencer in Char Dham Yatra and Hemkund Sahib Yatra and the police must ensure pilgrims do not carry it by conducting regular checking. Police should ensure an effective ban on violations like tripling on two wheelers and carrying passengers by putting slippers in mini trucks among others. The ADG said that police must ensure that pilgrims get information regarding action taken against violation of traffic rules on Yatra routes through social media and other platforms to spread awareness and sensitivity of the public towards traffic rules.
