The court of ACJM-I will on Tuesday hear on the bail applications of the president of Uttarakhand Berozgar Sangh, Bobby Panwar and six others who were arrested by police on February 9 on charges of stone pelting and other allegations. The officials informed that during the court date on Monday, the prosecution on behalf of the police filed an adjournment application in the court on the grounds that it is necessary to present a case diary by the police officials concerned with a detailed report before the court before hearing the bail.

The police asked for five days to present their report. However, the counsel of the arrested men objected to this application stating that if the prosecution wanted, they could have filed their objection and case diary with a detailed report on Monday itself as they are aware of the whole matter for the past five days. The counsel accused the prosecution of deliberately trying to delay the bail hearing. The officials informed that the bail application of the accused is pending since February 11 and as per the circular of the Uttarakhand High Court, the bail application is to be disposed of within seven days.

Considering this, the court gave the prosecution only one day to present the report along with all necessary details on Tuesday at 11 AM. Meanwhile, many members of the unemployed union and students affected by the recruitment examination paper leak continued their protest at Shaheed Sthal on Monday. They asked the authorities to release protesters arrested by the police on Thursday and demanded a CBI probe in the paper leak cases. After giving them repeated warnings to shift their protest to the designated protest site at Ekta Vihar, the authorities registered a case against nearly 60 protestors under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and other relevant acts. However, no arrest was made till late Monday evening.
