Court cancels bail of accused in forest guard exam cheating case

Wednesday, 12 April 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The district and sessions judge of Dehradun has cancelled the bail of Sachin Kumar, one of the accused in the forest guard recruitment examination cheating case 2021 as his advocate had allegedly presented wrong facts in his defence in the lower court in December last year. The court has ordered the Bar Council of Uttarakhand to take action against Sachin’s advocate for presenting wrong facts before court, said the senior superintendent of police of STF, Ayush Agrawal. He said that STF registered a case in the cyber police station in September last year against the alleged irregularities found in the online forest guard recruitment examination. A man named Sachin Kumar, who was posted as a lab technician in an examination centre at the time of the exams in Haridwar district, allegedly felicitated cheating along with other accused. He said that Kumar was arrested and presented in the lower court but he was granted bail on December 2, 2022. According to Agrawal, Kumar obtained bail from the court as his advocate allegedly presented wrong facts in the court in his defence.  The STF appealed against the bail in the district and sessions court by presenting strong evidence against the accused. He said that after analysing all the evidence, the court found out that all facts presented by Kumar’s advocate were wrong and cancelled his bail on April 10. The court has also directed the bar council to take appropriate action against the advocate, said the SSP. He added that STF is working on efficient prosecution of culprits involved in UKSSSC examination cheating cases.
