The Uttarakhand Congress rejected the budget tabled in the State Assembly on Wednesday, terming it directionless and lacking in vision. The former chief minister Harish Rawat said that the budget of the Dhami government is nothing but a mere showcasing of the schemes of the central government. He said that it is a fact that less than 30 per cent of the budget in the central schemes is spent.

The leader of opposition (LoP) in the Assembly Yashpal Arya said that the budget is a document of debt and it has nothing for education, health, infrastructure development and employment generation. He said that it is a matter of great concern that the State would have a debt burden of Rs 1,34,749 crore by the end of this financial year. Arya said that earlier the State had a debt of only Rs 35,000 crore which has now increased many folds.
