Cong accuses CM Dhami of violating MCC in Champawat

Alleging the violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Uttarakhand Congress has approached the Election Commission (CE). On the orders of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahra a delegation of Congress met the chief electoral officer (CEO) Sowjanya at her office on Monday and submitted a letter. In the complaint the Congress said that  MCC was imposed in Champawat on May 3 after the notification of the by election but on May 7, the district magistrate (DM) of Chamapwat  on the directive of CM Dhami has appointed  Assistant Engineer ,Rural Construction department, Kedar Singh Brijwal as nodal officer of CM in Champawat. Terming this as an open violation of MCC, the Congress demanded that the appointment of this nodal officer should be revoked. The Congress leaders also complained that the CM Dhami is consistently making declaration to woo the electorate on social media which is also violation of MCC.  The delegation included general secretary organisation Vijay Saraswat, general secretary Rajpal Kharola, former minister Ajay Singh, spokesperson Garima Dasauni and others.
