CM visits flood-hit areas of Roorkee, interacts with affected families

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the flood affected areas of Roorkee in Haridwar district on Thursday. In the visit he took stock of the situation and relief works. Dhami boarded a rescue boat and tractor to visit Laksar market Madarpur, Sahpur Basti, Prahladpur and Hastmauli areas affected by heavy rains and flood in the Sonali river. He interacted with the affected families and gave necessary directives to the relief teams and the officers.

Dhami said that a flood management plan should be made for effective control in the areas affected by water logging during floods. He said that the situation should be continuously monitored and relief should reach affected families without any delay. He directed the officers to ensure that food items and other things are available in sufficient quantities for the affected families. The arrangement for drinking water and milk for children should also be made. The CM said that arrangements for draining water out of the flooded areas should be made and effective measures should be taken to control spread of vector borne diseases.

He directed the officers to restore the water supply, electricity and connectivity affected by floods. Arrangements should be made to transport people from the affected areas to safer places, he said.

Former MLA of Laksar Sanjay Gupta, secretary to CM and the Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, district magistrate of Haridwar Dhiraj Singh Gabriyal, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ajay Singh and others accompanied CM during the visit.
