Monday, 24 April 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The Uttarakhand forest minister Subodh Uniyal said that all temples, mosques and mazars built on the forest land would be demolished. Works will start in this matter on war footing. He said some people like to see this matter through the lens of religions but these have nothing to do with religions. This is simple encroachment and steps would be taken to remove these. The minister further said that so far 337 religious encroachments have been identified. Only those religious structures would be spared which came up before the Forest Conservation Act 1980 was enforced. The minister said that data is being collected at the levels of the range office and a nodal officer has been appointed to speed up things. Demolition works have already been done in some divisions but complete information has not reached the forest ministry from some divisions.
