Challenges faced in literary journalism were discussed in a webinar conducted by Navodit Pravah. Academician Sudha Pandey presided over the function in which noted poet Buddhinath Mishra was the chief guest.

Pandey said, “Challenges were faced by literary magazines and newspapers from the times of Udant Martand. Many magazines like Chand, Indu and Sarswati among others, faced a lot of challenges. Still there are so many challenges and the economic crisis is the main cause of this situation. The future of all Indian languages is based on magazines as electronic platforms and digitalisation are not very friendly with real literature which is the main cause of closure of many literary magazines and newspapers. Covid-19 has brought a lot of problems in every field but I hope that Navodit Pravah will be successful under the editorship of Rajneesh Trivedi.”

Speaking on the occasion, Mishra said, “Earlier most of the Hindi newspapers had a literary supplement every Sunday but now the scenario has changed and everything is under the control of market. About 80 per cent magazines are closed during the Covid period and starting a literary magazine like Navodit Pravah in such times is a bold step.”

Various writers and scholars including CK Tripathi, Renu Pant, Indra Kislay, Dolly Dabral, Meenakshi Agrawal, Subrat Sharma, Kusum Nautiyal, Vidya Singh, Priya Dangwal and others were among those who attended the virtual event.
