In latest news from Dehradun, the State tourism and culture minister Satpal Maharaj has extended greetings to the people of Uttarakhand on the eve of the State’s foundation day and said that it was the time to gratefully remember the role played by the statehood movement activists and to pay tribute to those who made the supreme sacrifice for the cause of Uttarakhand’s statehood. He further said in his message that Uttarakhand had emerged as the 27th State of the Indian Union on November 9 2000 following a prolonged collective struggle of the people. Uttarakhand is not just a land of culture, nationalism and spiritualism but it has become one of the most popular tourism destinations of the country, he said and added that the Uttarakhand is known for its natural beauty and cultural richness as well as for the people’s warm hospitality, spirit of harmony and all-embracing love. While invoking the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maharaj said that all the people of the State should pledge to work to make this decade the decade of thriving Uttarakhand in line with the PM’s exhortation.
