The Nainital Dugdh Utpadak Sahakari Sangh Limited (NDUSSL) has rejected media reports alleging adulteration in its milk products. The NDUSSL general manager Nirbhay Narayan Singh said that a report was published in some newspapers on December 16 alleging adulteration in Aanchal milk. Rejecting these allegations, he said that the milk used by NDUSSL Lalkuan is tested at every level in the institution’s laboratory and then tested by the State level central dairy lab before being used. He averred that some person is spreading baseless rumours without facts against Aanchal which appear to be aimed at affecting the milk brand.

The general manager further said that the milk received in NDUSSL Lalkuan is tested according to 26 standards in the State level central dairy lab and 29 standards in the Lalkuan lab. It is tested for melamine, alcohol and other adulterants and it is put to use only after passing the tests. If any milk is found to be bad, it is either returned or disposed of.

The NDUSSL has latest equipment to ensure the quality of the milk, he said, while adding that the milk and dairy products are sent to the market only after passing various quality tests. There is no scope for adulteration in the milk and dairy products, he stressed. Addressing the customers, Singh said that Aanchal milk and products made from it, available in the market are free from adulteration. Allegations of adulteration and baseless and appear to be fuelled by malafide intention, he added.
