The Dehradun district magistrate R Rajesh Kumar said that the district administration is focussing on creating more and more micro-containment zones to curb the spread of Covid-19 infection along with increasing the number of Covid tests on a daily basis. Kumar said this after his surprise inspection of the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (Coronation)  hospital on Sunday. He took stock of the preparations in the hospitals amid the rising cases of Covid-19 in the district. He also asked about the health of the patients admitted to the wards of GDMC hospital from the doctors concerned who informed him that there are 165 patients in Covid ward and all are recovering fine. He directed the doctors to pay special attention to the treatment and food arrangements of the patients and not allow anyone without a mask. The administration of the Coronation hospital informed the DM that there is currently no one admitted to the Covid ward. Some patients who were found Covid positive with mild symptoms have been provided with medicines and are observing home quarantine. The DM said that the administration is adopting a strategy to create more micro-containment zones in the district to restrict the Covid contagion. He said that there are a total of 40 micro-containment zones across the district at present.  The administration is also working to deliver home isolation kits to the Covid patients in the district at the earliest and efforts would be made to increase the number of samples to 5,000 to 6,000 per day too, added the DM.
