ISRO’s moon mission to be included in school curriculum

In latest news from Dehradun, the State education minister Dhan Singh Rawat announced through a statement issued to the media that the Chandrayaan Mission launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) would be included in the school curriculum across the State and added that required directives have been sent to the education department officers to include it in the science section of the syllabus for classes from VI to XII. He also announced that the newly selected LT grade teachers would be handed appointment letters on September 6.  Besides, the Teachers’ Day would be celebrated in all the government –run schools across the State with fervour and some teachers from the State level down to the block level who have excelled in the arena of teaching would be felicitated on the occasion, the minister said. He took a stock- taking meeting of the education department at his official residence.

Explaining why the decision to include ISRO’s moon mission in the school curriculum, Rawat said that the successful soft landing of the Chandrayaan-3 on the lunar surface is a celebration of the Indian intellect.  This inclusion would inculcate a scientific temperament in the children.
