Amrit Kalash Yatra from Uttarakhand reaches Delhi

The Amrit Kalash Yatra group sent from Uttarakhand as part of the Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign reached Delhi on Sunday morning. The resident commissioner Ajay Mishra and other representatives of the government ceremoniously welcomed the group.

According to officials, 192 persons from 95 blocks of remote areas of Uttarakhand and 101 local bodies along with 166 volunteers from Nehru Yuva Kendra are representing Uttarakhand in the Amrit Kalash Yatra. This journey is being undertaken as part of the Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign across the nation in memory of the sacrifices made by martyrs for the country. The soil from the birthplaces of the martyrs carried in the Amrit Kalash will be placed at the National Martyrs Memorial in Delhi. The soil being brought in 7,500 urns from across the nation will be used in the Amrit Vatika in Delhi.

It will be recalled that earlier, the State-level Amrit Kalash Yatra was presided over by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in Dehradun.
