Various events were held to mark World Environment Day at the Forest Research Institute (FRI). The institute director Renu Singh said that it is a moral duty of every citizen to contribute to the environment. She called for collective, transformative action on a global scale to celebrate, protect and restore the planet.
Singh also expressed concern at air pollution and climate change while adding that the institute is also working on rejuvenation of major rivers of the country. She expressed concern at the magnitude of plastic pollution and its impact on all life forms.
