Members led by State convenor Jot Singh Bisht submit memorandum to Forest minister

 A delegation of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by its state convenor Jot Singh Bisht met the Forest minister Subodh Uniyal at his residence on Saturday and submitted a memorandum on rights of natives of Uttarakhand on forest, land and water resources of the state.

The media in charge of Garhwal region, Ravindra Singh Anand said that the issues on which the state of Uttarakhand was created are not visible anywhere now and it seems they are lost in the corridors of power. He said that the rights of the people of the state living in remote and mountainous areas are being snatched away from them. Giving an example of Helang village of Chamoli, he said that a situation of discontentment prevails in the state on this.

The delegation of AAP said that the forest department should provide free wood, fodder and river bed material to the local people for their livelihood. The cattle of people of mountainous areas should be allowed entry into the forest land for grazing. The AAP leaders demanded that the people of mountainous areas should be provided free timber by the forest department to construct their houses in the villages. The AAP leaders also submitted in the memorandum that a cooking gas cylinder should be provided free of cost every month to the villagers residing in inaccessible areas of the state. They should also get 300 units of electricity free every month.

 Apart from Bisht, the delegation included vice president of state unit Uma Sisodia, Vice president Azad Ali and senior leader R P Raturi.
