The newly appointed president of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Ganesh Godiyal has said that by relaxing land laws the BJP government of Uttarakhand has provided a mortal blow to the interests of the natives of the state.

Addressing the media persons here on Wednesday, Godiyal said that the land holdings in the mountainous areas are very less and they should be protected for the future generations. He said that by bringing changes in the land laws the BJP government has given free hand to the land mafia and capitalists. Godiyal said that instead of allowing outsiders to purchase as much land as they want, the government should have acquired the land and then leased its development works.  He claimed the central leadership of Congress party has given a Jumbo team in Uttarakhand on his request. Godiyal said that all the committees of the party have been asked to submit their working plan within a week.

On the issue of return of the rebels back into the party’s fold the new PCC president said that they should first submit an apology to the party and only then their request would be considered. Godiyal categorically stated that the Congress party would scrap the controversial Uttarakhand Char Dham Devasthanam management board once elected to power in the state. He said that by constituting the board the BJP government has snatched the rights of the stakeholders and Teerth Purohits.  Godiyal said that the eyes of the government are on the money which is offered in the temples. Launching an attack on the BJP government for not fulfilling its pre poll promise on Lokayukta, Godiyal said that the Congress would give a transparent and corruption free government.
