Weather set to take a turn again today

Rain and thunderstorms forecast in many parts, gusty winds in isolated places

Even as the mercury level continues to rise especially in the plains, the weather is set to take a turn again on Tuesday. The State meteorological department has forecast that light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in the districts of the State today. The meteorological centre has also issued a warning about the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty wind (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the districts.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is set to witness partly to generally cloudy sky. Rain/thunderstorms accompanied with gusty wind (40-50 kmph) are likely to occur in some areas towards the afternoon/evening. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 38 degrees Celsus and 22 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Monday were 39.3 degrees Celsius and 21.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 38.2 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 28.7 degrees Celsius and 15.5 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar, 28.3 degrees Celsius and 17.2 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.

Light to moderate rain was reported in some parts of the State on Monday with 18 millimetres reported in Rudraprayag and 8.5 millimetres in Ukhimath.
