Mayor extends property tax rebate period for five days

Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ has extended the period of 20 per cent rebate on property tax for five more days. Earlier, the mayor had extended the period of rebate for 15 days which was about to end on Monday. Considering it the last day of the rebate, around 250 taxpayers visited the premises of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) and deposited around Rs Rs nine lakh in property tax.

The mayor said that he has ordered extension of the period of 20 per cent rebate till Saturday for those property taxpayers who have not deposited the tax yet while adding that the rebate will not be extended further. “In the last 11 months, the MCD has collected about Rs 23 crore only. We had the target to collect Rs 50 crore but the tax submission is very less this year which can adversely affect the development projects of the city,” stated the mayor.

Meanwhile, many property taxpayers who visited the MCD premises on Monday stated that they could not deposit the property tax online as the website was not working properly. However, the officials stated that the online site is now being operated under Urban Development Directorate and not by MCD but added that the website is working fine. The officials further informed that those who want to deposit property tax online can log in to nagarseva.uk.gov.in
