U’khand Cooperative Silk Federation to promote Doon Silk

The Uttarakhand Cooperative Silk Federation (UCSF) has decided to promote ‘Doon Silk’ and work on a plan ‘ from Farm to Fashion’ to give a boost to the silk industry in the State. These decisions were taken in the meeting of the annual general body of the Federation held on Thursday. Informing about the meeting, the chairman of the UCSF, Chaudhary Ajeet Singh said that a business of Rs seven crore was done by the federation in the year 2021-22 and a target has been taken to increase it to Rs 15 crore this year. In the meeting, the registrar cooperative committees, Alok Kumar Pandey suggested that the federation should adopt multifaceted approaches and miscellaneous activities to enhance the income of the silk farmers.  The Managing Director (MD), Anand A D Shukla said that a work plan on ‘ Farm to Fashion’ policy should be created to promote the Doon Silk brand. He suggested that six additional counters of Doon Silk should be opened. The director Silk, A K Yadav informed the projects of the department with the representatives of the farmers in detail.

 The MLA from Dehradun Cantt Savita Kapur also attended the general body meeting of the federation.
