The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has geared up to tackle dengue with new machines and vehicles. The corporation initiated what it claimed is an extensive fogging and larvicide spraying campaign from Thursday under the leadership of Dehradun mayor Saurabh Thapliyal. The campaign began from the MCD campus with the deployment of four large fogging vehicles, five tankers for larvicide spraying and 100 small fogging machines aimed at covering all 100 wards in the city. The mayor said that small fogging machines have been provided to supervisors to ensure proper coverage across the Dehradun municipal area. “I have also issued instructions for sanitary inspectors to coordinate with their respective supervisors to carry out larvicide spraying according to schedule. The officials concerned will make additional arrangements as per the requirement,” he said. He further stated that all municipal officials concerned have been asked to carry out their duties sincerely as no negligence will be tolerated regarding dengue prevention. The corporation will also issue warnings and take legal action against individuals or entities found storing water in open spaces, particularly at construction sites or areas prone to water accumulation, he added.
