In Dehradun latest news, amidst speculation of Harish Rawat preparing to contest from Haridwar Lok Sabha seat in next year’s hustings, the State BJP president Mahendra Bhatt said in a sarcastic note that the veteran Congress leader and former chief minister Harish Rawat had better restrain his ambition of contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha election. “I will personally request him to desist from embarking on the electoral misadventure, though I don’t know whether he will pay heed to my advice or not. In case he loses the election which is a certainty he will be considered as the leader with record of maximum number of defeats in the electoral battles,” he said.

The State BJP leader further said that his party favours a strong opposition party in the democratic system. “However, the Congress’s greed for power is well-known.  Given the way the Congress is running now in the State, it is clear that the party leaders are bent on finishing off their own leaders,” he added.
