The buses of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) paid double toll tax at every toll booth once again due to a technical issue in Paytm’s server since Saturday evening. The FASTag account for the payments of toll taxes is attached to Paytm but its server got stalled again on Saturday evening for about an hour due to which, the buses had to pay double at every toll. A similar issue occurred on Wednesday and Thursday when Roadways buses had to pay double toll due to the servers issue of Paytm. The officials informed that buses had to pay double toll tax at all toll points on the Haridwar-Roorkee road, Dehradun- Haridwar road, Dehradun-Delhi highway and Dehradun-Haldwani road. The divisional Manager of Roadways Sanjay Gupta said that the technical issue persisted for about 60 minutes and during that duration, all roadways buses had to pay the double toll. There was a balance of about Rs 25 lakh in the Fastag account of UTC but it declined so fast this week as the buses had to pay double toll tax thrice this week due to a technical issue. He said that when the bus operators informed the roadways headquarters about the issue, the officials contacted FASTag and Paytm company. The UTC has informed about the issue to the Paytm company and has asked to repay the additional toll money paid by roadways, said Gupta.
