UPCL to hold camps to address issues of consumers

In an attempt to address various issues and complaints of consumers, the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has decided to hold special camps. Termed ‘Samadhan Shivirs’ these camps would be held at all subdivisions of the corporation for the next 15 days. Giving information, the managing director of UPCL, Anil Kumar told media persons on Friday that these camps are being organised as per the initiative of ‘simplification, solution and disposal’ of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. He said that the consumers can put up their issues such as new power connection, metering and billing, change of faulty meters in the camps. The subdivision officers and junior engineers should compulsorily remain present in these camps while the executive engineers, superintending engineers and chief engineer would also visit these camps from time to time. The MD said that the officers have been directed to resolve most of the complaints in the camp itself. On the power availability  he said that the difference in the power availability and demand has increased recently due to increased demand during winters and reduction in hydro power generation. The MD said that the peak demand of power during the Morning and evening climbs up to 2,400 to 2,500 MW against the average demand of 1,500 to 1,700 MW. He said that an arrangement of additional power of 400 MW from the central pool till February has been made. He added that the UPCL has entered into an agreement with the NTPC Power Trading Corporation for 100 MW power till March 2024 which is not available to the State due to the disparities in the coal policy.
