UPCL focussed on ensuring uninterrupted power supply in monsoon

To ensure uninterrupted power supply during possible disasters / adverse conditions in the monsoon period, the managing director of Uttarakhand Power Supply Corporation (UPCL), Anil Kumar has issued a number of guidelines to all the regional units. These involve patrolling/checking/earthing of 33 kV, 11 kV and LT lines; fixing dangling wires; straightening crooked/tilted poles; replacing/repairing rotten poles; clearing bushes around the transformer and repairing fencing and arranging essential storage material such as poles, cables, transformers and conductors for the nearest sub-institutes/storage centres, especially in highly sensitive areas.
Besides, except in any unavoidable situation, all officers / employees have been directed to remain present in their respective headquarters and work in high alert mode so that in case of an emergency, power supply can be restored in the shortest possible time.
The UPCL MD stressed on making available conductors, cables, poles and transformers among others to ensure smooth power supply during the ongoing Char Dham Yatra and Hemkund Sahib Yatra.
This aside, all the officers and employees have been asked to follow the safety rules on priority basis to
avoid any kind of untoward electrical accident due to water logging at various places because of heavy rainfall. The officers have also been directed to keep the chief engineers informed about the status of power supply from time to time through WhatsApp groups.
A control room has also been set up at the headquarters level for quick exchange of information regarding power losses in view of possible disasters during the monsoon period.
