Noida-based café owner shot dead in Rishikesh’s Tapovan area

A Noida-based café owner was shot dead in the Tapovan area under the Munikireti police station area in Rishikesh. The victim, identified as 40-year-old Nitin Dev, was attacked late on Wednesday while returning to his flat after work.
Senior sub-inspector Yogesh Pandey informed that two unidentified assailants on a scooter reportedly opened fire on him just outside his apartment building. He died on the spot after sustaining four bullet injuries, as per the officials. Pandey informed that the police reached the scene shortly after receiving information and sent the body for post mortem examination.
According to him, the initial investigation revealed that the deceased lived alone in his flat while three other flats he owned in the area were rented out. He also operated a café along the Astha Path in Rishikesh. Pandey stated that the CCTV footage captured two suspects on a scooter near the crime scene.
The police are analysing the footage to identify the attackers. He stated that an investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the killing. The victim’s family has arrived in Rishikesh and the police are conducting further inquiries and exploring multiple leads to solve the case, he added.
