U’khand receives Swadesh Darshan award for log huts

Uttarakhand was awarded the runner up prize for best log hut at Tehri lake by the Tourism ministry as part of best practices in Swadesh Darshan awards. The State’s Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj received the award from the Union Tourism minister G Kishan Reddy during an event in the national Capital.

Maharaj said, “The award received by Uttarakhand is recognition of the good works done by the State government. Recently the State was also honoured for its role in adventure, responsible and sustainable tourism. The State is focusing on development of tourism infrastructure under Swadesh Darshan 2.0 for Adi Kailash, Om Parvat and Munsyari in Pithoragarh and Chuka in Champawat along with developing Katarlmal, Jageshwar, Baijnath, Devidhura and other locations for heritage circuit.”

A total of 20 log huts have been built under Swadesh Darshan scheme at Sarai in Tehri for which Rs 11.30 crore was allocated.
