The Transport department will start the online process of issuing green cards and trip cards to the commercial vehicles on April 4 for operation on Char Dham routes. The department will also set up temporary check posts on Char Dham routes from May 1, the joint transport commissioner Sanat Kumar Singh.

The department had issued about 25,000 green cards last year that included 15,000 cards for local operators of Uttarakhand and 10,000 cards to operators of other states. The department collected a revenue of about Rs 1.3 crore from the issuance of green cards. The department expects about the same number of applicants from commercial vehicle operators this year too. To ensure applicants get green cards and trip cards on time, Singh directed the nominated nodal officers of the Char Dham Yatra to start making necessary arrangements and provide detailed information regarding this to the Transport commissioner’s office before April 4. He also directed to form a control room for Char Dham Yatra and issue a number to make it convenient for people to approach the department with their issues. The department must also form a Char Dham Yatra cell in all offices of nodal officers, additional nodal officers and assistant nodal officers across the State. The officials concerned have also been directed to provide regular updates about all the work done for Char Dham Yatra from May, Singh said.

The department has started making preparations to ensure pilgrims do not have to face any inconvenience during Char Dham Yatra. The department has directed all nodal officials to complete all work within the stipulated time, he added.
