UCC aimed at ending inequality in society, says Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is a law aimed at ending inequality in society. The people of Uttarakhand felt the need for it and hence it was implemented by the government, Dhami said.. He said this while releasing a special publication on the the UCC ‘Uniform Civil Code-Uttarakhand Leads the Way‘ brought out by The Pioneer during an event held to launch 27 development projects for Nainital district here on Saturday.
The CM said that the UCC is not against any particular religion or community. All will have equal rights under the UCC which will also provide them with the security which was lacking for some segments in the past. The code implemented in Uttarakhand will bring a new type of awareness in the nation, he added.
MP Ajay Bhatt, MLAs Banshidhar Bhagat, Mohan Singh Bisht, Ram Singh Kaida, Haldwani mayor Gajraj Bisht and other leaders were also among those present on the occasion.
