Trio arrested for duping man using ‘black magic’

The Shyampur police arrested three persons in Haridwar on Thursday evening for defrauding people by claiming to help them with black magic to find money buried in their homes. Bhagwat Singh of Sajanpur Peeli had informed police by giving a written complaint in Shyampur police station that 5 months ago, Bijnor resident Pradeep Joshi had told him that money was buried in his home and failure to recover it would result in the untimely death of a family member. The accused allegedly managed to extract Rs 12.50 lakh from Singh. The police registered a case against three persons and the team formed to solve the case arrested the accused Pradeep Joshi, Vicky Joshi and Rohit near the cremation ground in Shyampur. Police have recovered Rs one lakh in cash, a pitcher of steel in which 131 yellow coloured metal coins and other items related to rituals were kept and a motorcycle used by the accused for committing the crime.

Shyampur police station officer Vinod Thapliyal said that that while three accused have been arrested, further Investigation in the case is being undertaken.
