With the observance of the World Environment Day drawing near, the Tehri district administration has decided to launch tree plantation drives in all the polling booths under Tehri Garhwal district. The drive will start on June 5 and continue till Harela festival celebration. The decision has been taken in compliance with the instructions received from the State election commission.
The places selected for the drives include district election office, office of the chief development, office of the sub-divisional magistrate, Tehsil office and EVM warehouse. Informing this, the chief development officer, Tehri, Varuna Agarwal said that the BLOs would lead the plantation drives at the polling stations, adding that they would visit the booths from time to time to see that the saplings are taken care of.
