Transport Dept to conduct meeting to commence BH series registration

Monday 29 August 2022, | PNS | Dehradun

The senior officials of the transport department will conduct a meeting on Monday to take decisions to commence the registration of Bharat (BH) series vehicles in Uttarakhand. In September last year, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) introduced a new form of number plates called the BH series for those who have to relocate frequently due to their jobs.

As per the rules, it is mandatory for employees to change the registration number of their vehicle at the new place after their transfer to a new state in their respective transport offices. However, with the BH series number plates, the vehicle owner will not have to register their vehicle in the new states on his or her transfer.

Though it’s been almost a year since the launch of BH series plates and many states have already started registration including Uttar Pradesh, the transport department is yet to start this service in Uttarakhand. According to the officials, the transport offices in many cities have received some applications too but they will have to wait till the registration officially starts in the state. The regional transport officer (administration) Dinesh Chandra Pathoi said that the department has been working on providing the service across the state. A meeting is being held on Monday to discuss various aspects regarding BH series registration like taxes to ensure the service can be commenced in the state as soon as possible.
