Conserve local fairs, tradition & culture: Khanduri

The speaker of Uttarakhand Assembly, Ritu Khanduri has said that the local fairs are our cultural heritage and concerted and combined efforts should be made to preserve them. She was speaking at the cultural and agriculture development fair at Mehalchauri in Gairsain on Saturday. She said that everyone should come forward to conserve culture, tradition and the heritage of Uttarakhand.

Congratulating the organisers of the Mehalchauri fair, Khanduri said that such programmes energise our brain and they showcase our rich culture. Apart from entertainment the Fairs teach us some important lessons.

She said that appreciable work is going in the field of agricultural development and the time has arrived for adopting a model of agriculture based in the use of technology. The farmers can get benefitted by growing cash crops. The speaker said that the State government is doing appreciable work in the field of women empowerment. She said that the BJP government has done many works in Gairsain and the pace of these works would be further increased. The development of Gairsain is being done as per the sentiments of the people, she said. 

 The speaker was the chief guest on the third day of the fair.  On her arrival she was welcomed by the Mela committee with flowers and traditional musical instruments.

 Famous folk singer Narendra Singh Negi enthralled the audience with his songs.

 The Karnprayag MLA Anil Nautiyal, block Pramukh Sashi Pharswan, chairman of Mela committee Suresh Bisht and others were present on the occasion.
