Thunderstorms & intense spells of rain likely in five districts today

Little more than a week is left for the expected withdrawal of the monsoon from the State. However, the rainfall activity has continued in intermittent spurts in various parts of the State. Parts of five districts are forecast to experience thunderstorms with intense spells today. The State meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning (watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar districts on Monday. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in Dehradun, Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar districts and at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. Light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 32 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday were 30.9 degrees Celsius and 21.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 32.2 degrees Celsius and 24.3 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 20.9 degrees Celsius and 11.8 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 24 degrees Celsius and 14.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Very light rain was reported in some parts of the State on Sunday with two millimetres in Haldwani and 1.5 millimetres in Pandukeshwar.
