Covid-19 cases have been rising by the day, though not at an alarming rate, in Dehradun. Three new cases of the infection were reported in the district on Saturday. Stating this, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Dehradun Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma stated that with these cases, this brings the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the area to 33. This total includes 25 local cases, seven cases involving migrants and one case from Haridwar.

Currently, there are nine active Covid-19 cases in Dehradun, with eight individuals being cared for at home and one receiving treatment at Subharti Hospital. Sharma also said that 39 samples were tested for Covid-19 on Saturday, raising the overall number of samples tested so far to 256. Notably, there have been no reported deaths related to Covid-19 in Dehradun.

It will be recalled that, considering the rising cases, the Health department has recently issued an advisory regarding Covid-19. Earlier, Health secretary R Rajesh Kumar informed that the Health Department plans to run a special campaign aimed at raising public awareness about Covid-19.

This initiative will provide information on the do’s and don’ts. The do’s include covering the nose and mouth with a handkerchief or tissue while sneezing or coughing, avoiding crowded places and thoroughly washing hands with soap and water. The don’ts include reusing used tissues or handkerchiefs, handshakes and not maintaining distance from individuals who exhibit symptoms of illness, among other precautions.
