Light to moderate rain was reported in various parts of the State on Saturday, providing some relief from the heat. Similar weather conditions are expected to continue in various parts of the State today.
The State Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/intense spells of rain/gusty wind (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Dehradun and Nainital districts on Sunday. Apart from this, light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur at a few places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts and at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (40-50 kmph) are likely to occur in some areas towards the afternoon/evening.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 35 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.Light to moderate rain was witnessed in various areas including 30.2 millimetres in Dehradun, 24.8 millimetres in Jolly Grant, 10 millimetres in Nainital and 9.2 millimetres in Mussoorie. The spell of rain affected routine public life in parts of Dehradun and Nainital.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various areas were 34.9 degrees Celsius and 20.3 degrees Celsius in Dehradun, 37 degrees Celsius and 22.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 19.9 degrees Celsius and 11.9 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 25.2 degrees Celsius and 14.2 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
