Temperatures begin to rise, Doon likely to get hotter

As forecast, the temperature started to rise once again in Dehradun on Tuesday. A spell of very light rain in the provisional State capital provided minor relief in some areas. However, the heat is set to rise further in Dehradun and other parts of the State on Wednesday and in the following days.

The State meteorological centre has forecast very light to light rainfall/thunderstorm at isolated places in the mountainous parts of the State on Wednesday. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the plains. Dehradun is forecast to experience mainly clear to partly cloudy sky with thunder cloud development likely to occur in some areas towards afternoon/evening. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 38 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Champawat received 10 millimetres of rain on Tuesday while Dehradun received 2.3 millimetres. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Tuesday were 37.9 degrees Celsius and 23.8 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 37.6 degrees Celsius and 26.1 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 25.5 degrees Celsius and 14.6 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 27.4 degrees Celsius and 16.6 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
