The Transport department will soon launch an online portal for eligible applicants to be the beneficiaries of capital subsidies provided by the government to buy cleaned fuelled vehicles under the Uttarakhand Clean Mobility Transition Policy 2024. The portal is expected to be launched in April end or in the first week of May. The department had asked the agency concerned to start preparing the portal soon after the introduction of the policy by the government. The work will be completed soon but it will be launched only after the conclusion of Lok Sabha elections in the State, the regional transport officer of the Dehradun division (Administration) Sunil Sharma.

He said that the applicants will get the benefits of becoming beneficiaries on a first come first serve basis. After receiving the application for a grant, the department will transfer the amount to the bank account of eligible beneficiaries within 72 hours of purchasing the new clean- fuelled vehicle and obtaining the required registration and permit. If the applicant is scrapping their vehicle, it will be mandatory for the vehicle owner to provide all the necessary documents as per the rules to get the maximum benefit of subsidiaries.

The department will immediately issue permits on a first come first serve basis to ensure the operation of public transport on the routes as soon as possible. He said that those who want to know more about the policy or are interested in becoming an applicant can contact the permit in-charge Vinod Chamoli in room number 22 in the regional transport office at Rajpur in Dehradun. He said that the department is currently busy with vehicle requisition across the State to ensure the proper conduct of Lok Sabha elections. Considering this, the portal will be launched either by the end of this month or within the first week of May, he added.
