Names of Dhan Singh Rawat, Maharaaz, Anil Baluni, Ajay Bhatt & Suresh Bhatt making rounds
The Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat resigned on Tuesday afternoon but suspense still prevails on his successor. The CM and other BJP leaders refused to divulge the name of the new CM during their interaction with the media on Tuesday.
Though the official stand of the party is that the new leader would be chosen in the meeting of the BJP legislature party slated on Wednesday, it is apparent that the party high command would take the final call on the issue.
The party has so far played its cards close to its chest on the new CM but the names of state minister Dhan Singh Rawat, cabinet minister Satpal Maharaaz, Rajya Sabha MP Anil Baluni, Nainital- Udham Singh Nagar MP Ajay Bhatt, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and General Secretary (organisation) Suresh Bhatt are making rounds in the political circles.
The sources however point out that the Dhan Singh Rawat seems ahead of others in the race. He even had an informal meeting with the cabinet minister Madan Kaushik, chief secretary and other officials in the residence of CM on Tuesday. The buzz around him, the confidence on his face and a flurry of activities at his residence indicated that he may well be the tenth Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
