Snowfall, rain & thunderstorms likely in State today

Light rain was reported in various parts of the State on Tuesday with the State meteorological centre forecasting similar weather conditions on Wednesday. The meteorological centre has forecast that light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in the State today. Light to moderate snowfall is very likely to occur at places situated at altitudes of 2,500 metres and above. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail very likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail/gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 23 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Tuesday were 25.6 degrees Celsius nad 12.8 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 25.8 degrees Celsius and 14.8 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 13.6 degrees Celsius and 3.7 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 15.8 degrees Celsius and 3.3 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. There was six millimetres rain in Ghangariya, five millimetres in Devidhura, 4.5 millimetres in Bharsar, four millimetres each in Kanatal and Pokhri on Tuesday.
