Stellar performance by KV students in CBSE class X and XII results

The students of Kendriya Vidyalayas in the Dehradun region performed better than their counterparts of private schools in the Class XII and X examinations of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), results of which were declared on Tuesday.

In class X, 99.88 per cent students of KV passed while the pass percentage in XII stood at 99.16.  

In Dehradun region there are 46 schools for class X and 44 of class XII which are under the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS). A total of 3,219 students appeared for the class X examination out of which 3,215 students passed. Similarly, 3,173 out of 3,200 students were successful in class XII examination. 

Deputy Commissioner of KVS, Dehradun division, Sukriti Raiwani, stated that many schools have achieved better results this year. She emphasised that the improved performance is due to the hard work of both teachers and students, which has led to many schools achieving a 100 per cent pass rate. 

It is important to mention that in the CBSE results this year, a total of 90.97 per cent of students passed the Class X examinations in the Dehradun region, while 83.45 per cent cleared the Class XII exams. This year, 9,0348 students appeared for the Class XII examination in the Dehradun region, which included 5,0924 boys and 3,9424 girls. Additionally, 5,7395 students took the Class XII examination in Uttarakhand, comprising 3,1732 boys and 2,5663 girls.

However, the results for the Dehradun region significantly declined this year, dropping two places in the rankings. The Dehradun region went from being ranked 11th last year to 13th this year among the 17 regions across the country. In addition to the 13 districts of Uttarakhand, the Dehradun region includes eight districts from western Uttar Pradesh: Badaun, Bijnor, Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Rampur, Saharanpur and Sambhal. Approximately 1,500 schools in the entire region are affiliated with the board.

Additionally, the passing percentage for Class XII was 83.45 per cent, a decline from last year’s 87.98 per cent. In contrast, the passing percentage for Class X was 90.97 per cent, remaining consistent with last year’s results.
