CM hands over possession of homes to PMAY beneficiaries

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami handed over possession of homes to 10 beneficiaries of 240 EWS residential units construction under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)- Urban by the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) here on Wednesday. The other beneficiaries are being given possession of the homes by the MDDA as part of its Alayam housing project.

Speaking on the occasion, Dhami many in need had their dream of having their own home fulfilled under PMAY started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the poor sections of society. This scheme has proved to be a boon for the economically weaker sections of society. Beneficiaries under this scheme are getting their own home for only Rs six lakh in which the central contribution is Rs 1.50 lakh and the state contribution if Rs one lakh. Considering this, the beneficiary receives ownership of a home for only Rs 3.50 lakh. The chief minister said that construction of homes under PMAY will be expedited in the state.

The MDDA vice chairman Ranveer Singh Chauhan informed that 240 residential units had been constructed by the MDDA at Amwala Tarla, Sahastradhara Road. These consist of 15 blocks and 30 parkings. The super area of a residential unit under this project is 505.04 square feet and the covered area is 237.56 square feet. The beneficiaries chosen by the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun were allotted the residential units based on a lottery draw.

Cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi, mayor Sunil Uniyal, MLA Umesh Sharma, MDDA secretary PC Dumka and others were also present on the occasion.
