State Govt increases share in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana grant

The State government has decided to increase its contribution in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) from existing Rs one lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh. A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the State cabinet held on Monday. Informing about the decision, the chief secretary Radha Raturi said that as of now the Union government gives a share of Rs 1.5 lakh in the PMAY grant while the contribution of the State government was Rs one lakh. The State government has now increased its share to Rs 1.5 lakh under the scheme. The construction cost of one unit under the PMAY  is Rs six lakh.

 In another decision, the cabinet approved the plan to hand over additional 5.335 acres of land to the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Sumadi, Srinagar free of cost. The cabinet also approved the proposal to appoint child and general counsellors under the Law department in Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts.

 In an important decision, the cabinet approved the plan to remove the ban on the recruitment in the aided government schools. The cabinet also gave its nod to the new guideline for the post matriculation scholarships given to the scheduled caste students. The scholarship is given by the Social Welfare department.
