Already focusing on youth voters, the Bharatiya Janata Party is not leaving the elderly behind in its Lok Sabha election campaign. The party’s State president Mahendra Bhatt has requested all the party candidates, public representatives and party office bearers to begin campaigning by seeking blessings of voters aged above 80 years.

Informing about the party’s Sarvocch/Heerak Matdata Samman Abhiyan, the BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that Bhatt had stated that the election campaign should begin with felicitation of the elderly. In a letter to party leaders, Bhatt stated that there are about 1,54,259 voters aged above 80 years in Uttarakhand. Out of these, 1,411 voters including 853 women and 558 men are aged above 100 years. These voters have seen the nation pre and post independence, before 2014 and the development done after Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office. Bhatt has said that all the party candidates, MLAs, former MLAs and party office bearers should begin the election campaign by seeking the blessings of such elderly voters. Their comments about the BJP should also be publicised on social media, he added.
