Police arrest wife’s killer within 48 hours of crime

The police nabbed an absconding man from near Defence Colony for allegedly murdering his wife last week. He has claimed that he killed his wife in a fit of rage due to her never-ending demands, as per the police.

The police found a dead body of a woman named Shweta Srivastava from a house located in Friends Enclave near Defence Colony on Saturday.  The police informed that when the police arrived at the scene, the throat of the deceased was slit and her two children- seven-year-old daughter and an 11-month-old son were standing in a corner in fear. The husband Saurabh Srivastava was nowhere to be found and was missing along with his scooty.

The father of the woman Ajay Kumar had also filed a complaint against his absconding son-in-law for allegedly killing his daughter. The police nabbed the accused from the Nehru Colony area on Monday. According to the police, the accused had confessed to killing his wife in  rage after they both had an argument and his wife slapped him on Saturday. He said that his wife kept demanding such things that he could not afford. He said that he also lost his job three months ago and her demands also prompted him to take loans, informed the police. The police said that the accused stated that his sister’s wedding is due next month but his wife refused to attend it if the accused did not buy her an expensive necklace. She started throwing things and slapped the husband too so in rage, he tried to suffocate her to death but she did not die, informed the police. The accused said that he then tried to strangle her with the school belt of their daughter but the belt broke so he strangled her with the cable of an iron. Since the accused could see she was still alive, he slit her throat with a kitchen knife, informed the police.
