Societal participation key for TB eradication: Bhadauria

 The mission director (MD) National Health Mission (NHM) Swati Bhadauria has said that eradication of Tuberculosis (TB) is possible only through the public participation. She was addressing the meeting of the state level TB forum at the NHM auditorium here on Monday. The MD, NHM exhorted the members of the TB forum to give their contribution in achieving the target of eradication of TB by the year 2025 in the State. The state has registered more than 10,000 Ni-Shay mitras in the State and the department has trained 130 TB champions who have recovered from the disease. These TB champions are engaged in counselling and social awareness programmes of the department. 

 Bhaduaria directed that regular feedback from the TB patients should be taken with the help of toll free helpline number 104 and with the help of this service they should be informed about treatment of the TB patients and their nutritional requirements. In the meeting the TB champions and representatives of the social organisations shared their experiences. The meeting was attended by additional mission director NHM Amandeep Kaur, director NHM Dr Bhagirathi Joshi, state programme officer NTPE Dr Pankaj Singh, state TB officer Dr JS Negi, programme officer CPHC Dr Faridurjaffar, TB and chest physician Dr Anurag Agarwal and others.
