The snow removal work by the army personnel is continuing along the pilgrimage route to the revered Hemkund Sahib and Laxman Mandir in full swing. Notably, the portals of Hemkund Sahib are slated to reopen for the pilgrims on May 25.
These days the army personnel are being found busy making the route through Atlakoti glacier which is still covered with snow. Meanwhile, accumulated snow has been cleared from around Hemkund Gurudwara by the army personnel.
With the portal opening date drawing near, the trek route clearing work keeps gaining momentum. The army jawans have, however, been battling against the worsening weather conditions. While they have prepared the bridal path by removing snow, the work of removing snow on the horse and mule route is yet to be completed. This will be over soon, said the Gurudwara management members.
The Gurudwara manager Sewa Singh said that things are progressing fast. “Now the army personnel are engaged in cutting the accumulated ice at Atlakoti along the Hemkund Sahib Yatra route. “The snow accumulated around the Hemkund Gurudwara has already been cleared,” he added.
